Harpa lui Orfeu

muzica rock psihedelica  incepui sa o ascult in timpul incantatiilor subervsive  a anilor de liceu.Impreuna  cu Anca si Adi ascultam printre dezbaterii   si polemici  stradale ,printre bauturi iefine si mirosuri somnoroase  predilectam pentru sunetu electric  desigur! …cald   si revoltat …

.Dovedindu-mi neputinta vicioasa am in colectia mea  aceleasi sumedenii…

Multimedia Art

Arta multimedia  este prea putin cunoscuta in randul publicului romanesc .Arta multimedia i se contesta  expresiviatea artistica tocmai pentrul ca sincretismul sau nu e pe placul oricui.Karsten Hamre  dintr-o perspectiva  reflexiv-interogativa  afirma Then, when one decide to combine two or more of these expressions it becomes a multimedia expression. Is a multi media liveshow which includes music, lyrics, film, visuals and performance/dance any less art than a theatre or for that matter a book, a film or a painting? I really don’t see how anyone wholeheartedly can claim that multimedia is less art, when combining various art forms, than when they are performed individually.Arta mulimedia pare sa   comprime  visul lui Wagner aceea a unei sinteze  a artelor(Gesamtkunstwerk).

L-am intalnit pe Karsten Hamre in urma  cu 3 ani cand a sosit   din Limarick(Irlanda) pe tarmul iesilor pentru a pune in functiune proiecutul sau  artisitc Penitent impreuna cu Vlad .Karsten imbina suportul fotografic , .poezia, instalatiile  si muzica(de soundtrack) simtindu-se  in pielea  sa cu oricare din colajele artisice folosite.

German Guilt

“ What you feel isn’t importnat its utterly unimportant. The question is    what you do”

I saw  the film ‘The Reader “.It  is an adaptation after the award wining novel by German law professor and judge by Bernard Schlink .The book has two major themes: a love story and the difficulties of subsequent generation to comprehend Holocaust. The issue of German gulit is part of the debate within the social and narrative realm, as the victims and witnesses of the Holocaust die and its living memeory starts to fade .

Frist of all  Iam concerned about  the author’s point of view andhis  intention to define gulit .This book is unusual in the way it deals with this issue. The autohr distinguishes 3 major perspectives in constructing blame  and guilt:JUSTICE ,MORALITY AND LAW.

You are not gulity if you are working at Auschwitz or  in Gulgas.Over one hundred of Germans  worked there. They only did their  job .Was it legal?Yes it was taking into consideration the laws of that time.In order to be guilty of something you have to prove INTENT(intention to kill).  Was Hannah guilty ?Was her gulit a moral wrong or a legal wrong or both??

The author tries to understand Hannah ’s crime and condemn it.Bt it proves to difficult and terrible to do that.It is difficult to both understand and condemn”When I condemned it as it must be condemned, there was no room for understanding … I wanted to pose myself both tasks — understanding and condemnation. But it was impossible to do both”

Hannah is the symbol of the German postwar gerneration. She is the metaphor of  fate and  love, war and guilt ,Triumph anf ignorance.”… the pain I went through because of my love for Hanna was, in a way, the fate of my generation, a German fate,” Michael concludes. In  this  we can read “beyond Good  and Evil”(Nietzsche)because  we all new that but we didn’t kill ourselves for that wrong. It  was a collective participation to a  Crime  in ‘the past which brands us and with which we must live” .The Nuremberg Trial was a duty to call and condemn crimes. But  who condemnd who? . Everbody has its individual guilt.Nobody did sometihing to stop it.The answer was silence .The trial of shame was  the “shame of our parents’. So  the Nazi past raises  not only  moral  and legal issues but  personal responsability and family relationships  :”the  children who couldn’t accuse their parents of anything, or didn’t want to”

Hannah illiteracy becomes a metaphor of modern understanding of Holocaust .Even the title of the book  plays with the term and the process of reading.Literature is not only a simple  and innocent narrative of the past but also constructs and deconstructs  reality and fiction alike. The book of the death-march survivor constitutes the basis of the case against Hanna. The title  is not given.Michael says “it is the book itself that creates distance.”Holocaust  is seen through the distortiunate lences of time and life itself.Michael asks himself and the reader.Michael’s inability is to both condemn and understand Hannah.

What should our second generation have done, what should it do with the knowledge of the horrors of the extermination of the Jews? We should not believe we can comprehend the incomprehensible, we may not compare the incomparable, we may not inquire because to make the horrors an object of inquiry is to make the horrors an object of discussion, even if the horrors themselves are not questioned, instead of accepting them as something in the face of which we can only fall silent in revulsion, shame and guilt. Should we only fall silent in revulsion, shame and guilt? To what purpose?

AT  the Trial Hannah asks not only the judge but all of us a simple and personal question :

“What would you have done?”

Human Rights

Hillel Neuer of UN Watch exposes the hypocrisy of the UN Human Rights Council (March 23, 2007). For the first time ever, the Council president, Ambassador Luis Alfonso de Alba of Mexico, rejects the speech as “inadmissible” and bans it from ever being delivered again.

I loved that song  and I am posting the English lyrics as well.

You have to know

No right to cheat thee,
don’t drain this lie
your useless dream…
your toil in vain…
the wings of dream teach us to fly
No right to give up.
No right to die.
So far you feel, so far alive
Just tell her the truth, why play games with your mind
Tell her that you love
that life from inside.
Will kill in your heart
the destiny child
will shadow
be tied
to the chariot of time.

Ref: You have to know I know
That’s shield!
The future sunrise lies in former lights
You have to know, they steal your life
The unborn smile.

You have to know I know.
My shield!
Born yesterday and did not start to live
You’re not alone at any gate of mine
Take all the roads I built…

You have to know,
One word in time,
Can rip beyond the grave
No right
To gently drop forgiveness
DO NOT COMMIT MURDER!
His morning dreams,
His glass of light,
Strengthen beliefs
You cannot kill
uproot
decide
what’s good for him -
though he feels like,
though you are right,
Don’t drill him in
Is not your life.

Eternal good and evil grow
On your path,
this journey unique of its kind
Your life’s so full of life
Hate clings to the eternal love
You have to know.
Free choice is yours only
line
You have to know.

War on terror

Zeitgesit movie is a documentary film released online presenting political and social concerns of the new mellienium.

The  film starts with   the speech of a spiritual leader followed by musically synchronied clips of war and explotions culminating with the collapse of the twin towers during 9/11.The Intro edns with George’Carlin’s monologue on religion .

I will  focus on the main conculsions of the   film :

 Part ONE:

First  that Christianity derives from  a Gnostic myth .This  is not  new to us.We know already that SCHOLARS  from medieval times from Socrates  himself and continuing with the Renaissance and the work of Girodano Bruno .They wrote intensvly about the  gnostic influences of the Christian faith. If  we think  of historians  like Eliade ,Culianu(gnosticism) or even Mosche Idel(judaic mysticism)  we  can trace clear evidence  of these influences. At the same  time Christianity has its roots in prepeganism and paganism as well.Fraizer ,the American antrhopologist, talks and tries to explain the origins of religoius beliefs of ancient tribes. He  speaks of Totemism as one of the   the first religious  forms  .

Freud  goes even further into this matter  and tries to explain monotheism and Christianity as well. In  his book ‘Totem and Taboo” he  makes interesting assertions like CHRISTINAITY IS BASED ON A COLLECTIVE MURDER of THE FATHER made BY  THE SONS OF THE TRIBE beacuse  of the incest taboo and  also from the fear and repsect of the father.Feeling gulity because of the murder of the Father they invented  a belief system  called TOTEMISM  invented  FURTHER ON THEY INVENTED  Son /Sun Religion as well:Christianity.

The root of the judaic monthiesm is dervied from  one of the most ancient and first monotehistic pagansim beliefs :from the Egiptenian   God Iten(THE SUN GOD).This also coincides with the Book of Exodus when Moses led  the hebrew slaves out of Egypt across the red Sea .This  was  the moment  when Moses introduced  the new religion to the jewish people.Until then   they had pagan  beliefs . Moses  brought them the gift of a new religion but not as we think  today  or as it is wrriten in the Bibile. It was  a violent  war  that occur because people  of Israel refused the new  religion calling it the faith of the enemy.(The Egiptenans).Last but not least, the monotheistic God of Moses prevailed but with  lot of blood .The Book of Exodus has this missing part of the ” struggle “.Freud  remainds us of this historical gap  within the Old Testament.Freud is  not the only one to see  and mention the gasps in the bibile .Scholars like Newton ,Pascal mentioned  the historical  gasps of the bibile(both the Old and New Testament)  and had the courage  to question the facts .

Nietzsche  in his book “The Antichrist “speaks  about the  death of  paganism  and  the new born Chrisitan religion and its  consequences. In the preface of the book ”Antichrist”‘ , he says ” “Let us look one another in the face. We are Hyperboreans “.Nietzsche “cleverly refers to the Hyperboreans to indirectly extol the heritage of pre-Christian,  paganism as compared to the deficient “southerliness” of the modern Judeo-Christian.But  what are  are his arguments for that .

Nietsche expresses  hiss dissatisfaction with modernity. He disliked the contemporary “lazy peace,” “cowardly compromise,” “tolerance,” and “resignation.Christinanity is the embodiment of  this spiritual negaitve  traits.

The  concept of moral  Christianity is in fact   what he calls THE WILL  TO POWER.Concepts like good, bad, and happiness are in close relationship to  THE WILL TO POWER. “What is good? — All that heightens the feeling of power, the will to power, power itself in man. What is bad? — All that proceeds from weakness. What is happiness? — The feeling that power increases — that a resistance is overcome”Nietzsche ’s words and thoughts   are provokative and shocking  “What is more harmful than any vice? — Active sympathy for the ill–constituted and weak — Christianity”Nietzsche traces the will to power is in the politcal affrimation of sympahty .Christianity is not innocent to that and the will to power is what we call  today politics .For thousand of  years  the Vatican(and not only)  and religious leaders make “‘good” politics  in the name of the  weak.Nietzsche goes even further into the matter.Nietzsche went on to say that mankind, out of fear, has bred a weak, sick type of human. He blamed Christianity for demonizing strong, higher humans like Pascal .who was devrived by Christianity’s  teaching of the original sin .

Mankind for Nietzsche is in a decadent state.Mankind  is corrup .Power corrupts  and where is high power there is absolute corruption.Depravity results because ” … nihilistic values dominate under the holiest names. The Christian God reflects Christianity’s decadence. The Christian God is a “… declaration of war against life, against nature, against the will to live.It is a political construct in order  to exercise the WILL TO POWERR OVER     the sinner ,the weak ,the marginal  .It  is a political  construct of the few for the most because the Kingdom of Heaven is for Evyone but only few can  enter it.This God is a “… formula for every slander against ‘this world,’ for every lie about the ‘beyond’!”The absolute  evil  of this poltical mechanism  is its clergy .The Vatican (but not only) is no strange  or innocent to all these things.Nietszche also acuses Paul for falsifing history of Christinaity  ,the history of Israel, and of mankind. by making them all seem to be a preparation for the crucifixion. “The great lie of personal immortality destroys all rationality, all natural in the instincts — all that is healthy, all that is life–promoting, all that guarantees a future now arouses mistrust.”The meaning of life is that there is no meaning to present life. One lives for life in the beyond. By offering immortal life after death to everyone, Christianity appealed to everyone’s egoism. The laws of nature would be broken for the salvation of everyone. “…[I]t is to this pitiable flattery of personal vanity that Christianity owes its victory — it is with this that it has persuaded over to its side everything ill–constituted, rebellious–minded, under–privileged, all the scum and refuse of mankind.Politcians used it  to led revolutions and  it  was the best tool because Christinaity is  ‘the art of the holy lie” and in its history” attains its ultimate  perfection “He  also concludes that Jesus  was   the first and the  last Christian.

A friend of mine, who is Chair of the Economics Department, invited me to speak to the students and faculty at the University of Dallas (where the Veterans for Peace convention was that I spoke at the day before I went to Crawford on August 6th, 2005), which is a small, non-culturally or non-racially diverse, Catholic college.

Surprisingly, my friend Sam, received little protest over inviting me, but there was a “Support the Troops” rally in the room next to where I spoke. Some Camp Casey friends accidentally went into that room and only heard the speaker call me names like “scum” and he called the rest of the people at my event “peace fairies.”

I was heartened to find the first three rows of my speech were filled with young people who were smiling and vigorously nodding their heads at everything I said. Most of the audience clapped or laughed in the right places so I was feeling pretty good. However, I was a little sad when there were some snide snickers when I had the unmitigated gall to call Iraqis “human beings.”

During the “Q and A” part, the first question I received amazed me. Now, I was raised Protestant and received an excellent training in the Christian scriptures and I know after being a Catholic for 25 years and a Catholic youth minister for nine of those years, that the average Catholic does not know a great deal about the Bible as most of their religious training is in the tenets of the Catholic faith. Here’s how many Catholics quote scripture: “It’s somewhere in the Bible,” when, in my experience, many times they are actually quoting: “Poor Richard’s Almanac.”

An emphasis on the biblical support for the teachings of the church was never used as long as I taught in the church using the approved teaching materials of the church, but the depth of ignorance of Jesus of Nazareth exhibited in the first question still had the ability to astonish me.

The question printed neatly on a 3 by 5 index card was: “How do you reconcile your progressive ideals with your faith?” I answered the question that Jesus cared about the poor. He admonished us to “feed the hungry” “clothe the naked” “heal the sick” “visit those imprisoned.” Jesus performed a stunning feat of civil disobedience by over-turning the tables of the moneychangers in the temple and was subsequently executed by the Empire of his time. Jesus was the ultimate progressive radical. Jesus’ name is exploited by our materialistic society at Christmas time when he changes from the right-wing Christian warmonger to the “Prince of Peace.”

Jesus welcomed the “least of these” to his table. He didn’t exclude sinners, lepers or prostitutes who were the pariahs of his day. Today, I am convinced that if Jesus returned he would welcome gays and non-white people (even “illegal” immigrants) to commune with him. The only people I ever heard Jesus speak badly about were the “brood of vipers” (Mt 3:7) that were the Sadduccees (Democrats?) and Pharisees (Republicans?) who in the parable, with hypocritical piety, walked right by the man who had been beaten, robbed and left by the side of the road to die without helping him and they turned his “Father’s” house (the Temple) into a “den of thieves.” (Mt. 21:12).

My question for the questioner was: “How do you reconcile your faith with supporting war and killing?”

If Jesus came back today and was a politician, I know, because of my faith in the inherent goodness of the Universe, that he would not be a “politician” but a public servant. Jesus would be in favor of single-payer health care, solar and wind energy, unions, free post-secondary education, Social Security, fair trade, free speech, civil rights, and human rights. Jesus would be against the death penalty, torture, extremist religions that exploit His Name for profit, extremist states that exploit His Name to kill innocent people, and the ultimate crime against humanity: war.

Whether one is a Christian, Jew, Muslim, or like me now: nothing, Jesus of Nazareth and his story is still worth studying and emulating. At the risk of sounding judgemental, I have a feeling that these reactionary Christian extremists are going to be shocked when they go to meet their maker and find out that Jesus wasn’t kidding when he said “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God” (Mt 5:9) The converse of that saying is: “Cursed are the warmakers for they are not the children of God.” There is a very relevant saying of Jesus in the Bible that these self-proclaimed “Christians” should also pay closer attention to:

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:43)

Wise words for everybody to strive to live up to: From presidents to college students and everyone in between.

Let’s work for true Peace on Earth and Goodwill to ALL!
